Ideas for Father’s Day gifts and outings
If you’re still looking for something to do, make or buy your dad for Father’s day, we have a few ideas for you.
On Sunday, fathers across the world will be treated to their favourite meals, activities or sweet handmade cards and gifts.
If you’re still looking for something to do, make or buy your dad for Father’s day, we have a few ideas for you.
Something inexpensive:
- Make your dad something: A card with an interesting shape, a CD with his favourite songs or even handwritten vouchers for doing small tasks around the house like “mowing the lawn” one Saturday”, “washing dad’s car”, “extra turn washing the dishes” or “feeding the pets on Saturday so dad can sleep in”.
- If you’re creative and love crafts, why not make him a key-chain board with hooks to hang them or even a bag for all his fishing gear or braai tools?
- If you’re handy with knitting, make him a scarf or jersey or even a funny hat or pair of socks in his favourite colours.
- Pop some popcorn, buy a bag of his favourite sweets or bake him a yummy dessert or batch of cookies or a cake and spend a few hours playing board games or watching movies at home.
Take dad somewhere:
- Give dad the gift of time and plan a family picnic in the Kruger National Park, the Botanical Gardens or at one of the local dams.
- Take him for lunch at one of the local restaurants – you can get anything from pizza and steak to sushi and tacos in White River these days.
- Does he love cars? Take him to the Casterbridge Car Museum and have lunch nearby or book him a ticket to a local rally or motor show. You can even book a test drive of his dream car at a local dealership.
- Cater to dad’s competitive side with a round of “mini-gholf” at the brand new putt-putt course at Sakkie’s Farmyard at Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre.
Gifts that cost a bit more:
- Create a personalised hamper with all of his favourite things like sweet treats, aftershave, biltong and a DVD or CD. You can place it in a basket, large decorative plate or even an old vinyl record, wrap it in cellophane, tissue paper or camo cloth and tie with a piece of rope or raffia.
- If your dad has his eye on something, order it online and have it delivered to his office as a surprise!
- If you’re still stumped, get him a voucher at he store he loves like Cape Union Mart, Jeep or even Mr Price Sport. This way he can choose between anything from a pocket knife and an electric lamp to weights and snazzy shoes.
