Police organise sport against crime campaign
"We aim to encourage learners to teach one another about the consequences of being involved in criminal activities in their own simple language. We brought the message that if they work together with the police, we will fight crime in their schools," explained Const Victoria Maluleka, coordinator of the event.
The Burgersfort SAPS recently held a Sport Against Crime awareness campaign to urge locals to refrain from criminal activities.
The theme of the event was “Crime does not pay,” and it was held at the Mafemane Primary School.
The event was attended by respresentatives of the organisation as well as the social crime prevention team.
“We aim to encourage learners to teach one another about the consequences of being involved in criminal activities in their own simple language. We brought the message that if they work together with the police, we will fight crime in their schools,” explained Const Victoria Maluleka, coordinator of the event.
The event comprised several soccer matches that saw both girls and boys participating.
Those who took part were awarded medals and trophies.
The event was also attended by members of the victim empowerment programme, teachers, police and pastors.
Maluleka expressed words of gratitude to the sponsors of the campaigns.
