BURGERSFORT – Mr Thabiso Mokoena, spokesman for Greater Tubatse Municipality, has confirmed that a meeting is taking place in Pretoria. Mining companies, 50 community representatives, GTM mayor Cllr Ralepane Mamekoa and minister of mineral resources Adv Ngoako Ramathlodi will be in the meeting.

The meeting started at 12:00 and at 15:00 Mokoena confirmed that the parties were still discussing various issues.

It is unlikely that any positive or negative news from the meeting will be made known before tomorrow.

Sources also reported that tyres and a truck were set alight this morning on the R555 after protesters agreed to suspend the strike for 24 hours while they were waiting for a comment from the GTM mayor.
