LHS explosive talent wows
The performance was described as a journey of rhythmical ecstasy that varied from traditional African sounds to gospel, African jazz and even included a tribute to the Rugby World Cup 2015.
MBOMBELA – Saturday night was synonymous with bright lights and good music when the talented youth of Lowveld High School (LHS) presented their one-of-a-kind African Explosion concert.
The performance was described as a journey of rhythmical ecstasy that varied from traditional African sounds to gospel, African jazz and even included a tribute to the Rugby World Cup 2015, which will begin in less than a month’s time.
This year LHS also celebrated diversity and culture with hit songs as far back as the early 80s and had the opportunity to share the stage with the University of Johannesburg’s choir. This particular choir travelled to Bratislava, Slovakia earlier this year to participate in the Slovakia Folk Competition where the choir not only won the event for western music with 95 per cent, but also the folk-music event with an outstanding 100 per cent.
Both LHS’s choirs, however, were not far behind and did exceptionally well this year. The junior choir, under leadership of Ms Eunice Mthethwa, achieved second place at the Nelspruit Eisteddfod while the senior choir was crowned provincial champions at the South African School Choral Eisteddfod 2015 and represented the province on national level.
But what made this event even more spectacular was the fact that not a single hit performed was pre-recorded.
Lowveld High’s own four-man band was responsible for
an unforgettable night of
live music.
