This post, claiming that the moon will “inexplicably duplicate 37 times” next month, has been doing the rounds on social media this week. A simple Google search has proven that people have actually asked where the best place will be to see this miraculous phenomenon.
Grant me the honour to once and for all point out that the moon will not duplicate.
This post is actually an spin-off of a post which made the rounds a few weeks ago, claiming that on a certain day, Mars will appear from Earth to be as big as the moon. Thousands of people shared the post and believed they would be able to see crater’s on our sister planet.
The post about multiple moons has been designed to show how easily people will believe social-media posts about cosmic phenomenons when they don’t understand it. Even on this high level of ridiculousness, there were still people who believed it.
