Residents enjoy tea all in aid of cancer

A beautifully decorated venue, fresh flowers, stunning tables and mountains of sweet treats and live entertainment created an amazing ambiance.

LYDENBURG – Local residents enjoyed a wonderful morning of teatime extravagance during the Cuppa for CANSA at Oom Andries Coffee Shop.

A beautifully decorated venue, fresh flowers, stunning tables and mountains of sweet treats and live entertainment created an amazing ambiance. The theme for the day was Denim and Diamonds.

Ms Chrissie de Beer, a patient caregiver at the local CANSA branch, gave a lifestyle-and-cancer presentation. “CANSA Lydenburg aims to educate the public on how to take care of themselves. In my presentation I shared various things that people need to avoid to decrease the chances of getting the disease,” she said.

“People have to be alert at all-times about the risk they put themselves in on a daily basis. Avoid smoking, avoid drinking access alcohol and make sure that you exercise,” she added. Ms Carolien Bronkhorst won the prize for being the best dressed.

According to De Beer, they appreciated the support they received. They would like to thank Ms Jonel Venter of Oom Andries Coffee Shop, River Lodge, Johan of The Music Shop, Ms Nicolene Breytenbach, Guests & Glasses, Ms Madelein Viljoen and Ms Isobel Janse van Rensburg for the food.
