Learners are prepared to walk tall at St Mark’s

In 2016 St Mark's International will introduce a new stream

With the guidance of specialist educators, St Mark’s International School offers extra lessons outside normal school hours. According to Abel Nkuna, this programme targeted content subjects, especially mathematics and science.

In 2016 St Mark’s International will introduce a new stream. Among others, it will offer courses in the electrical and mechanical stream for grade 10 to 12 learners.

This approach will also prepare learners for university. “Some will choose to pursue careers on the given subjects or start practising as professionals,” Nkuna says.

The school will partner with companies like Eskom for the electrical courses.

“This will help to give the learners more industrial exposure to prepare them for the job market.” In addition grade 10 to

12 pupils will undergo a course in engineering graphics and design. The introductory course will equip them to draw up house plans and design flyers.

With the tag line, Walk Tall, St Mark’s wants to create a conductive learning environment that empowers learners to reach their full career potential, cultivating confidence and self-esteem.

It sent teachers for training during the October recess to improve their knowledge on the new offering. At St Mark’s, the teachers and management aim to be the preferred and trusted international educational institution that provides quality education to mould socially responsible, educated and economically active citizens. It is also unique in the sense that it offers both academic and technical subjects in a bid for excellence. Other than that, the school boasts soccer, rugby and other athletic facilities.

Its approach in sports grooms talent from young age groups.

Under the guidance of the school’s sports academy, St Mark’s scooped the school sports team of the year award at the Ehlazeni Sports Awards this November, which was presented by the Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation.

Enrolment fees are as follows:

• Day learners – R1 300 per month

• Boarding learners – R3 800 per month

• Football-academy learners – R4 600 per month.
