Well done to the SAPS in Komatipoort. On Thursday November 5 they arrested three suspects believed to be involved in the use, distribution and selling of marijuana and a drug called CAT (methcathinone).

The suspects were found in possession of CAT, marijuana and devices used for smoking drugs. The highly addictive characteristics of this drug when abused, may take away the control you have over the continuation of self-inflicted damage.

The cost of feeding an inevitable addiction that regular use will cause, may mean that you find yourself involved in crime, facing a lengthy jail term, and dealing with serious health problems including permanent mental illness, the risk of communicable diseases like HIV/Aids because drugs like CAT prompt risky sexual behaviour, and overdosing.

You may also lose your job and support of family and true friends along the way. By having the drugs in your possession you may be committing an offence, even if you have no intention of using them. People should call the police if they have any information about the use, selling and distribution of illegal drugs.

We should talk to all kids about the ugliness, darkness and ruin that drugs bring to users and everyone around them, to make it very scary to them.

Drugs are something to be feared. Let’s talk to our kids and show them examples of where drugs lead, so they can learn from others what we don’t want them to learn first-hand.

Thank you SAPS Komatipoort for fighting this drug war and saving lives.
