MALALANE – Cindy Ndlala (34) has really made a name for herself as one of the best female referees in the province thanks to her experience and qualifications.
She has officiated about seven national tournaments, and in five of them she has walked away with the best assistant referee award. She also made it to the National First Division, but had to pull out early due to minor injuries. She grew up at Block C playing soccer and refereeing on the odd occasion. Ten years ago she was approached by one of her teammates to consider refereeing as her career.

Ndlala also encourages women not to let success pass them by. “Female referees out there who want to build a name for themselves – it is possible.
“You need perseverance and persistence because refereeing as a woman in a man’s world is difficult. All of these challenges are great as they keep me strong, that is why I am so proud of myself today,” said Ndlala.
