Suspect hands himself over to local police

BURGERSFORT – After being on the run for five years, a wanted murder suspect,

Mr Kagiso Kodisha Mokgotho (26) has finally handed himself over to the local police.

Mokgotho allegedly shot and killed taxi driver, Mr Lucky Bhengu in December 2010 after an alleged disagreement.

According to the Burgersfort Police, the whereabouts of Mokgotho had been unknown these past years.

“The case was revitalised when the deceased’s family enquired if Mokgotho was still on the run. We searched for him at his home in Penge (Maretlwaneng) without success. We demanded his family to bring him to the station and on January 4, he finally succumbed to the pressure and handed himself to the police,” said Det Maj Mahlathini Ngele.

Ngele added that they were currently conducting on investigation and were also searching for the gun he used in the shooting.

Mokgotho appeared in the Tubatse Magistrate’s Court on January 6. He was not granted bail and was remanded in custody. It is not yet known when he will appear in court again.
