
MBOMBELA – The matrics obtained a total of 134 distinctions and only 14 of the registered 229 matriculants failed.
A total of 129 candidates obtained a bachelor’s which is 60 per cent of all the candidates who achieved the highest pass status.
Seventy- four candidates (34 per cent) obtained a diploma pass and 11 candidates (five per cent) obtained a higher certificate pass.
One candidate, Mosibudi Madike obtained seven distinctions. She is going to enrol for actuarial science at the University of Stellenbosch. Masibudi was accompanied by her mother, Khethiwe, who spoke highly of the hard work her daughter had put in.
“I am very proud of her. She had put in a lot of commitment in her studies, all we see today is the manifestation of her hard work,” she said.
Although Humairaa Hoosen and Ahmed Noorbhai both obtained six distinctions, each missing their seventh distinction by two per cent, they were equally ecstatic. Humairaa will study economic science this year and Ahmed is planning on becoming
an engineer.
Five distinctions were obtained by Zunaid Ganchi and Ridhwaan Patel, who both missed their sixth distinction by one per cent and their seventh by two per cent.
Ms Jane Wandrag, principal of Lowveld High School, said LHS was proud of the class of 2015 and wished them all the best for the future.
“Considering that the national average dropped by five per cent, we are therefore very satisfied with our results which basically stayed the same,” she said.
