Suspect in murder case sought in town

"We will consider a reward of R65 000 for anyone who provides information that could reveal the whereabouts of Juane for the purpose of enabling the police to get the information they need from him in relation to the murder case."

LYDENBURG – A murder suspect could possibly be hiding in town. Ms Jade Schoombie contacted Steelburger/Lydenburg News regarding the search for Mr Juane Jacobs.

“My brother, Carl (27), left a night club in Claremont, Cape Town in the morning of November 21, last year. He and his friends took an Uber home.

“Half way home, however, they realised they were being followed and were eventually forced off the road. Carl was mistaken for someone else and repeatedly told the suspects that he had no idea what was going on. They dragged him out the vehicle and assaulted him.

“My brother passed away four days later due to severe head injuries,” Jade explained to the newspaper.

She said informants had told them one of the suspects might be living in town. “We have also been told that his wife, who goes by the names of Ms Zahida Jacobs and

Ms Zanooksha Bibi Ismail (Jacobs), might be with him. We have one suspect, Mr Brent Henry who has been granted bail of R1 000.”

She said that the Schoombie family was seeking the assistance of the public to try and track Juane down. “He and his wife may have significant information about the circumstances surrounding my brother’s tragic and gruesome murder.”

She said his last known address was Flynn Street in Honeydew, Johannesburg. She added that Juane had several identifiable tattoos on his body which include a dragon or lion on his right hand, praying hands on his neck, a lion and wolf on his right arm, tears and the inscription “JS Jacobs” in his neck, an eagle on his chest and a dragon on his right leg.

“We will consider a reward of R65 000 for anyone who provides information that could reveal the whereabouts of Juane for the purpose of enabling the police to get the information they need from him in relation to the murder case. Where requested, we will treat any information given to us as anonymous.”

A Facebook page has also been created to help find him. For more information go to the page “Justice for Carl”.

Should anyone spot Juane, contact Crime Stop or phone the investigating officer, WO Marlon Marais from the Rondebosch Police Station in Cape Town.
