Marloth Park grieves sudden death of Clarissa Johnson
Tributes pour in for popular supermarket cashier as family and friends await post-mortem results following her sudden death.
Police are investigating an inquest docket after Clarissa Johnson (46) was found dead at a local property on August 7.

Police received a call about the incident at around 03:02. According to police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo, upon arrival on the scene, officers were met by private emergency services, who directed them to the main bedroom where Johnson was found.
Masondo said police are awaiting post-mortem results to confirm the cause of death.
Preliminary reports indicated that the deceased tripped on the doorstep and fell inside the house, possibly hitting her head. A witness stated that she later complained of a headache and went to sleep. When the witness later tried to wake her up, but she did not respond. Emergency services personnel were then deployed on the scene.

Tributes flood in for popular cashier
Johnson’s sudden death has sent shockwaves through the town. Many residents remember her as the friendly face behind the cash register at Ingwe Supermarket. Store owner Elize Styer described her death as devastating:
“Clarissa always went above and beyond what was expected of her. Her friendly, bubbly and sparkly personality was infectious, and the way she interacted with our customers and colleagues made her a truly special part of the Ingwe family.”
Her daughter Leshe wrote on Facebook:
“Losing my mom is a pain I don’t think I’ll ever have the words to explain. No matter how much time passes, I know there will always be a part of me that wishes I could hear your voice, feel your arms around me, and tell you just how much I love you. Until we meet again, Mom.”
Resident Yoricka Carlson said she could not come to terms with the reality of Johnson’s death, describing her as the ‘most beautiful person and a darn good cashier’.

A big brother’s heartwarming words
Johnson’s eldest brother, Anton Klein, shared a tribute with Lowvelder:
“We will always remember her as a friendly, bubbly person with a warm heart. It is truly special for us to see how many people, following her passing, shared stories on Facebook about her kindness, caring nature and willingness to help others. On behalf of my brother and myself, we want to express our heartfelt thanks for every message, call of encouragement, prayer, and word of support we have received during this difficult time. May Clarissa now find peace and enjoy the company of our mom and dad. Until we meet again.”
Klein added that a small memorial service will be held in town and arrangements are still in progress.
