Residents protest at GTM demanding a better road

BURGERSFORT – Angry residents from Ga- Riba village protested to the Greater Tubatse Municipality (GTM) on Wednesday (March 16) demanding a better road be erected in their village. The residents said they were promised a road by the Limpopo government years back, “we are struggling without a tarred road. No one wants to visit our area,we lack basic services. The worse thing is that our cars are damaged by the mountainous  gravel road,” said one of the protesters . GTM mayor Cllr  Ralepane Mamekoa promised the residents that he will engage with the Road Agency Limpopo (RAL) to find out about the progress of Ga Riba road,“i will visit your village along with RAL management to reveal when the construction of the road will start.”

Mamekoa said the visit to the village will be between March 17 and March 20. On Monday, the residents blocked all the roads leading to their village with burning tyres and stones. Steelburger/Lydenburg News will keep readers updated about the developments in this story.
