Mashishing and Mkhuhlu battle it out on the football field

The match ended with a dreaded draw, leaving the local team two league points short - as the aim was to get three points for the league board not just one.

It was a tough battle for Mashishing Football Club when they played a SAB league game against Mkhuhlu Football Club on Sunday in Mashishing.

Just five minutes after the game started, the local team was the first to score. Unfortunately for them, in the second half Mkhuhlu leveled it up.
With only 30 minutes left on the clock, Mkhuhlu scored another goal. Though it seemed a done deal, Mashishing scored their second goal five minutes before the game ended.

The match ended with a dreaded draw, leaving the local team two league points short – as the aim was to get three points for the league board not just one.

According to Mr Rufus Lubisi, one of the directors for the local team, they were not happy with the outcome of the game, although they still hope to make it to the Vodacom league at the end of the SAB league. “We have 33 points at the moment and need eight points to qualify,” he said.

The team still has six games in line and are in need of sponsors to assist them. “We are struggling to raise funds for transport and all the basic things needed when traveling to play away-matches,” Lubisi added. If you would like to help the team, call Rufus on 078-976-4763 or Terrance on 073-044-3924.
