It was a bittersweet day for Mashishing Football Club when they played a SAB League game against Bakwena Chiefs Club in Mashishing.
Just 20 minutes into the game, the local team was the first to score. Mashishing led 1-0 at half-time. With less than 10 minutes left on the clock, Mashishing scored a second goal giving them a 2-0 victory.
It was good result for the local team however the win will not change the fact that they will not qualify for the Vodacom Cup.
According to Rufus Lubisi, one of the directors of Mashishing, they were not happy with the outcome of the day, although now their aim is to qualify for the Nedbank Cup in the next season.
“The points we gained today will not help us, we have lost hope on the Vodacom Cup because we won’t make it although we need to keep moving and focus in the next season,” he said.
The team still has five games to play and are in need of sponsors to assist.
“We are struggling to raise funds for transport and all the basic things needed when travelling to play away matches,” Lubisi added. If you would like to help the team, call Rufus on 078-976-4763 or Terrance on 073-044-3924.
