STEELPOORT – A family in Tukakgomo Diporwaneng is destitute after a mysterious fire destroyed their home on Friday.
The family of nine now has to sleep at neighbours as they have nowhere to go. According to Ms Ella Marole (24), she was watching TV and at about 18:45 she went back to her bedroom where she had left her 15-month-old baby.
“I was shocked to see fire. I immediately grabbed the baby and escaped through the window, but for the house it was too late as the fire had already destroyed the roofing,” she said.
Marole pleaded with locals and the municipality to help them bring back some stability. “I am not working and we rely on my mother’s pension as she has a mental disorder.”
They suffer from post-traumatic stress and are in need of financial and moral support. “We are in dire need of food and furniture.
I plead with good Samaritans to help so that I can take care of my family,” said Marole.
Their neighbours also urged residents and business owners to help them recover.
“Your support is vital to this family, they must start with a new home. They have nothing left,” said Ms Sannie Mhlongo. Those who wish to help, can call Marole on 072-841-7530.
