Karabo records song for Disney Junior

MBOMBELA – The 11th Idols South Africa winner, Karabo Mogane, is making great strides in his career. The local artist recently recorded the theme song for Disney Junior’s hit TV series, The Lion Guard.

Karabo is the first African artist to lend his voice to a Disney Junior theme track.

Lowvelder caught up with this star and he shared his excitement with the newspaper.

“I couldn’t believe it when I received the call from my agent about the good news. I was over the moon,” said Karabo.

He said that being associated with a reputable company like Disney is a dream for any artist and when that opportunity present itself one is bound to grab it.

“I was totally blown away when Disney asked me to record the theme song for The Lion Guard. I grew up with The Lion King as a child, and to now be asked to sing the theme song for this new series that continues that epic story is a real honour,” said Karabo.

The artist from the Lowveld has always been associated with humbleness and he portrayed that when he told Lowvelder that this opportunity was God given.

“It could have been any other person, but they chose me. It wasn’t because I am better than others but God chose me, I thank Him for that,” he said.

He admitted that working on the song demanded a lot of time and commitment. He said his family has been supportive. 

“I received the song four days before recording day. I had to go through the lyrics and familiarise myself with the version,” he said.

Christine Service from Disney said, “We are thrilled that Karabo has lent his immense talent and distinctive voice to The Lion Guard.”

Karabo added that he was very excited that his album was doing well despite the fact that he has not shot a music video for any of his songs.

“My supporters can look out for a music video for my single titled Ngifuna Lo, which will be shot in May,” he concluded.
