Female officers clamp down on crime on R36

OHRIGSTAD – In their quest to combat crime, the SAPS organised a women’s crime-fighting operation last Friday. The campaign was spearheaded by the Ohrigstad SAPS’ station commander,

Capt Getrude Mashego.

It also involved female officers of the Mecklenburg, Leboeng and Burgersfort stations. Ohrigstad Community Policing Forum members also formed part of the operations.

According to the communications officer of the station, Const Kholofelo Phokane, the team conducted stop-and-searches on the R36.

“Three illegal immigrants were arrested and searched; the trio were hitchhiking to Burgersfort.”

Phokane said the police proceeded to the farms in Rusplaas.
