Tekkie thief is still very active

BURGERSFORT – Five shops in Tubatse claim to have been terrorised by the co-called All Stars tekkie thief.
The man who was captured on CCTV footage stealing the well-known sneakers at various clothing outlets, is a concern to shop owners.
In a video viewed by the Steelburger/Lydenburg News, the man enters the Milanos store in Twin City complex, steals the tekkies and hides them in his trousers.
The store manager, who did not want to reveal his name, said they were shocked to notice that the All Stars on display were disappearing at a rapid rate.
“We reviewed our footage and discovered who had stolen them. The shoes began disappearing in April this year. We lost more than R10 000 because of this theft. We wish to alert the public and other shop owners about the man. We can fight this crime if we all display the left shoes in all the stores.
I believe he will not steal unpaired shoes,” said the shop owner.
Limpopo police spokesman,
Lt Col Ronel Otto, urged stores to open shoplifting cases at their nearest police stations. She also advised locals to stop buying stolen goods.
