UPDATE: Kruger Gate will remain closed until further notice
Guests are advised to use alternative routes such as Phabeni and Numbi Gates to access and exit Kruger National Park until further notice.

17:00 – According to SANParks’ spokesman, Mr William Mabasa, the Kruger Gate will remain closed due to protest action until further notice. “The gate will only be opened once the unrest that’s currently taking place at Cork have stopped. We will continue to update the public in that regard,” he said.
“The marchers submitted a letter with a total number of six demands to us on Saturday, and amongst others, there was a financial demand which I will not disclose,” Mabasa told this newspaper after it enquired about information received about an incident invoving illegal fishing in the Sabie River, and the community allegedly asking compensation.
“Guests of Kruger National Park are hereby informed that Paul Kruger Gate is currently inaccessible. Guests are advised to use alternative routes such as Phabeni and Numbi Gates to access and exit Kruger National Park until further notice.”
13:00 – Kruger Gate open for now
The Kruger National Park’s Kruger Gate that was inaccessible due to protests on the R536 until recently, is open again.
SANParks’ spokesman, William Mabasa said in a statement yesterday that guests should use the Phabeni and Numbi gates to access and exit Kruger National Park, but as of yesterday, the protesters have dispursed and even though there are some debris remaining on the road, the road is open.
A nearby resident added that there is still a noticeable police presence with crowds gathering. The exact reason behind the protest is still unknown.
