Members of parliament visit residents of Tubatse
To prove to the crowd that the power installed was indeed working, the officials visited Ms Anna Shai's home where they switched on the lights. They also handed over an RDP house to her family. Shai's family of eight previously stayed in a dilapidated shack and survived on her monthly pension grant. The old lady is also confined to a wheelchair. One of Shai's daughters, Merriam, said they were grateful to have had their house electrified.
DRIEKOP – After years of struggling and numerous service delivery protests, the residents of France Village have finally received what they wished for.

The ceremony was attended by members of Parliament, which included the minister of energy, Ms Tina Joemat Pettersson, the Speaker of the National Assembly,
Ms Baleka Mbete, minister of cooperative governance and traditional affairs,
Mr David van Rooyen, minister of cooperative governance, human settlements and traditional affairs in Limpopo, Ms Makoma Makhurupetje and the outgoing Greater Tubatse municipality’s mayor, Mr Ralepane Mamekoa.Pettersson said the energy used to electrify the local villages was from the ANC-led government.
