UPDATE: Search for grade one pupil on hold

The reported victim has not yet been identified.

UPDATE: The search for a grade one pupil that was reportedly abducted at 13:30 this afternoon will only continue once she has been identified.

Lowvelder reported that she had allegedly been abducted outside the entrance of Laerskool Barberton.

Tha abduction allegation was made by two of her fellow pupils and reported to the school’s vice principal, who reacted by contacting the police, Bossie’s Community Justice (BCJ) and Hi-Tech Security Barberton.

“Her classmates said that she was abducted by an unknown man driving a blue Polo. However, they were unable to identify the girl,” said BCJ’s Mr Albert Gryvenstein.

According to Gryvenstein the school’s principal, Mr Robert Naudé, is ensuring that all of the pupils’ parents are being telephoned in order to ascertain the identity of the missing child. “The principal is doing everything he can to contact parents. Where a parent cannot be reached by phone, the school’s employees drive to the parents’ home to confirm whether their children are safe,” he said.

Hi Tech Security Barberton’s Mr Sakkie Dednam said that search teams had covered Barberton and also searched in the directions of Hilltop and Kaapschehoop. “We have found nothing as yet,” he said. He confirmed that the search will be on hold until more information becomes available.

UPDATE:

The primary school pupil who was reportedly abducted outside the entrance of Laerskool Barberton this afternoon, has not yet been identified.

Witness statements are being obtained as the search continues.

Two pupils of the school reported that they had seen the girl being abducted by an unknown man after school. It is believed that she is in grade one. However, her fellow pupils were unable to identify her by name.

The police, security companies and community members are currently searching for the girl. “However, the fact that she has not yet been reported missing by parents or guardians and consequently not identified, makes the task difficult,” Bossie’s Community Justice’s Mr Albert Gryvenstein said.

BARBERTON – Community members in Barberton have joined the search for a grade one pupil of Laerskool Barberton who was said to have been abducted about an hour ago.

SAPS, Hi-Tech Security Barberton and Bossies Community Justice are currently searching for the girl.

“They said their friend was forced into a blue Volkswagen Polo by an unknown man,” someone who is close to the search told Lowvelder.

“According to the girl’s two classmates, he was not familiar to them and they described him as ‘unkempt.”

Mr Sakkie Dednam from Hi-Tech Security Barberton said they were authorised by the police to stop and search all vehicles that fit the description.

The school principal Mr Robert Naude was not available for comment.
