LYDENBURG – Lydenburg police arrested an alleged drug dealer and confiscated drugs with a value of R67 178 last Thursday.
The police confiscated 16,8 grams of cocaine rocks, 85 grams of crystal meth, 80,4 grams of khat and cash.
The police received a tip-off about a Nigerian man in Mashishing Ext 2 who was selling drugs to the community.
According to Lydenburg police spokesman, Capt Alfred Kaizer Moela, they immediately sent officers to investigate the matter.
“On their arrival at the suspect’s home, he threw a plastic bag out of a window. Some of the officers were still outside and saw this happening.
“Before opening the plastic bag they called the forensic team. They then opened it and found drugs inside,” said Moela.
The man was immediately detained on charges of dealing in drugs.
According to police records, this is not the first time the suspect has been arrested.
“He has more than one passport and has different names.
“When we arrest foreign nationals we deport them, but he came back using a different name. All the passports he had have expired,” said Moela.
The suspect appeared in the Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
“Mr Stanley Anselem Chigoze Agoha appeared briefly and the case was postponed to yesterday for further investigations.”
