Six people die in taxi collision

BURGERSFORT – Six people were killed when a taxi collided with a Suzuki Swift near Penge on Saturday afternoon. The deceased were aged between 22 and 25.

Limpopo police spokesman, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, said the incident occurred next to Annesley Andalusite Mine. “Five people died on the scene, while another died later in hospital.

“The taxi was travelling from Burgersfort towards Penge and the Suzuki was travelling in the opposite direction,” Ngoepe said. He added that the cause of the accident was still unknown, but that the police investigation was under way.

“The deceased were identified as Thabo Mphogo (25), Thabang Lephoto (23), Mmapeu Lepoto (23), Puseletso Lesiga (22) and Kabelo Makgatho (23), who were killed instantly and the sixth person, identified as Tshepo Ntuku (22), died in hospital,” said Ngoepe.
