Jafta will sing his songs no more
Friends and colleagues in the music industry described him as the South Africa version of Bob Marley
BURGERSFORT – Residents from Tubatse and Lydenburg are mourning the death of renowned reggae artist, Jafta Bestenbier. He passed away on August 15 after suffering from a short illness. Bestenbier grew up in Riba Cross, but was residing in Lydenburg at the time of his untimely death. Friends and colleagues in the music industry described him as the South Africa version of Bob Marley. His music was aired on local stations including Mash Fm, Tubatse FM and the SABC radio stations. “To all his supporters, let us pay the last respect by giving him a proper send-off that he deserves. To his family, we mourn with you,” said Douglas Mabokwane, a member of the Tubatse Various Artist Organisation. He is known for his songs “Rasta” and “Stop the abuse”, among others. The fallen hero was last seen performing live at Nthame Music Show on April 1. During his last performance, he hinted that he wished to organise a music show in Lydenburg.”We will miss his smile and may his soul rest in peace,” added Mabokwane. Bestenbier’s funeral service will be held in Riba Cross at 06:30 on Saturday and he will be buried in Lydenburg at 09:00.
