Mrs Mpumalanga finalist does a round of visits

Mrs Mpumalanga 2018 finalist Jené Smit has been involved in 13 community projects since her journey in the contest began.

“You should know by now, when it comes to the community, I have no limits. I have a big heart and I honestly feel that love has no exceptions, it chooses all,” said Smit.

Last Wednesday she spent time at the local Mediclinic and SPCA.

She said she collected food and blankets for both SPCA Barberton and the one in Mbombela.

“Realistically speaking, you cannot really do anything for someone who is in the hospital, except for making their present moment a bit more bearable. I have also heard that there is no better medicine than laughter, so I decided to take some humour and packets full of delicious fresh popcorn with my own little spice mixture to the patients and staff members at Mediclinic.”

She said a certain woman reading Barberton Times was such a sport.

“She allowed me to take a picture of her, even though she was not in her best state. As a woman myself, I know how brave that is. I just loved her kind and natural spirit. I was visiting her, but at the end of the day she was the one who gave me food for thought. The staff were so welcoming. In general, I am not fond of hospitals, but this visit was worth it.

“I want to thank everybody who believed in me, from the bottom of my heart. I don’t know what November 4 holds for me, but I do know I will continue to touch the lives of others, with or without the crown,” concluded Smit.

The crowning of Mrs Mpumalanga will take place tonight at Communio Church in Mbombela.
