University of Mpumalanga students state their case

Students at the University of Mpumalanga gave a list of demands that the university should adhere to before they open the gates to let students and personnel of the university, in.

Sihle Malaza told Lowvelder on Tuesday that students were upset because “we don’t have enough accommodation and the university does not want to pay the accredited accommodation off campus.”

“We spoke to management since February but they are ignorant about our problems. Closing the gates and striking was our last option,” Malaza said.

The Fulbright American Scholarship information session had to be cancelled yesterday due to these protests.

The gates of the university are still blocked by the students.
