Home affairs office closed after apparent roof cave in

After several attempts to get hold of the communications department, there was still no answer as to what residents should do in the meantime.

LYDENBURG – The building in which Home Affairs is situated has been closed.

This follows after the roof of the building was said to have apparently caved in on account of a termite infestation. Employees and customers were exited from the office on last week Friday.

A source told the newspaper that it is not only the roof which is a big concern, the whole building could collapse at any given time. “The walls have huge cracks and the entire building is a safety concern at the moment.”

After several attempts to get hold of the communications department, there was still no answer as to what residents should do in the meantime.

It would now seem that the only solution would be to travel to either Sabie or Mbombela for services rendered by the department.

The newspaper will inform residents of any updates should feedback be received from the department.
