LYDENBURG – Residents have now had enough of the haul trucks making use of town roads.

According to Emmerentia Pretorius, the community has reached a point where they have no other option but to force and demand Thaba Chweu Local Municipality (TCLM) to come up with a solution to get the trucks of the town roads.

“The municipality is busy neglecting their responsibility towards the residents of this town. The haul trucks have already caused considerable damage to the main roads and are now making use of residential streets in town. TCLM does not have the capacity to financially pay residents for the damage caused to their vehicles on account of the dilapidated road surface and potholes.”

Pretorius said that once enough people have signed the petition, it will be handed over to the Municipal Manager of TCLM. “The municipality will have seven work days to respond to the grievances, if it fails to do so, we will take the matter further. We will not rest until this matter has been resolved.
