Police recover another two bodies in Mpumalanga

Police have discovered another two bodies, one at Driekoppies Dam and another near Machadadorp on Monday.

MALELANE–   The other two bodies were recovered from a dam near Barberton after the men were reported missing this week.

According to police spokesman Col Mtsholi Bhembe, police are looking for assistance regarding the body of a man estimated to be in his mid-30s to early 40s.  “He was spotted by fishermen at the dam at about 15:10 and they immediately alerted the police.”

Upon arrival at the scene, the police found his body floating at the bank of the dam.

The victim was carrying a backpack containing compressed dagga. “We are investigating  how he ended up dead in the dam.”

He was wearing a pair of black formal trousers with a black belt, a black golf shirt with a blue sticker on the left side of the chest, black formal shoes and a pair of black socks decorated with dices. He is estimated to be 1,4m in height.

Anyone who may be able to assist police in tracing the victim’s next-of-kin as well as solve this matter is requested to contact Det Capt Busisiwe Kunene on 082 4489 521 or Sgt Nompilo Qwabe on 079 891 4821 or Schoemansdal SAPS at 013 781 3310/11, alternatively the SAPS Crime Stop number, 08600 10111 may be called.

The second body of a man estimated to be in his early 60s was found in the vicinity of Goedgelyk Farm known as Jerusalem, at Machadodorp.

The man, who had been missing since 23 June 2018, was identified by his brother.  “The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.”

The Provincial commissioner of the SAPS, Lt Gen Mondli Zuma called on members of the community who may be able to assist in the investigation to contact Warrant Officer Leon Van Den Berg at 082 316 9857 or SAPS Crime number 08600 10111.

In both incidents police have opened inquest dockets for investigation.
