BREAKING NEWS: Escaped convict dies on N4
Four prisoners escaped from a police vehicle on the N4 near Karino, which left one dead, one in critical condition and two others on the run.
MBOMBELA – Four prisoners escaped from a police vehicle driving on the N4 on Friday. The attempted escape left one man dead and one in a critical medical condition.
Two others successfully escaped and are on the run.
According to police spokesman, Lt Col Erhard Stroh, Kabokweni police were transporting the prisoners to the Nelspruit prison this afternoon.
“They managed to break the mesh on the back of the vehicle. The one jumped out the van while they were driving and died on the scene. The next to jump out was critically injured and taken to hospital.”

Stroh said that the two other prisoners managed to escape. “We are still on the scene investigating the matter,” he said.
