Marloth lodge named best in category at national Lilizela Awards

Needles Safari Lodge in Marloth Park was won the four-star category on national level at this year's Lilizela Tourism Awards.

MARLOTH PARK – The owners and staff of Needles Safari Lodge were thrilled to be named the top four-star lodge in the country in the Lilizela Awards at the Sandton International Convention Centre in Johannesburg on November 17.

The lodge has been named the provincial winner in their category for the past four years.

Owner, Denis Goffinet said these awards were “the proof we need that our lodge, region and province continue to offer the high levels of accommodation, service and hospitality for which we have always been famous”.

After the Lilizela Awards’ provincial dinner in Mbombela on September 7, Goffinet told Corridor Gazette that it “is very rewarding for our team to see that service excellence to guests gets recognition”.

He explained that the lodge’s success lay in rewarding staff to ensure they are happy, an inclusive management policy, providing superior quality food and services, as well as a host of activities for guests. In addition, they also reinvest funds into the business.

The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism announced that several other national awards also went to local establishments. Ngwenya Lodge, near Komatipoort, won the Wildlife Encounters Category.

Pretoriuskop, in the Kruger National Park won the two-star caravan and camping category for their tented adventures.

Umsisi House, in the Peebles Valley outside White River, won the five-star country house category.

Umlani Bushcamp in the Timbavati, Tintswalo Manor House and Tintswalo Safari Lodge in the Manyeleti were named the three-, four- and five-star game lodges.

The Graskop Gorge Lift Company and Thaba Tsweni Lodge and Safaris were among the finalists in their respective categories.
