Man in court for allegedly defrauding a vehicle dealership

A man has been remanded in custody after the Hawks arrested him for fraud. 

MBOMBELA –   According to Hawks spokesman Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, Ronnie Given Malibe (39) was remanded in custody by Nelspruit District Court on Monday after he was arrested by members of Commercial Crime Investigation Unit Mpumalanga for Fraud.

It is alleged that in April 2012 the accused purchased a vehicle on the name of the co-accused  Maria Shabangu who is in prison, serving a sentence for another case .

The accused  allegedly used fraudulent documents – salary advice and bank statements and defrauded the dealer. Total loss suffered R370 000.

Accused number two,  Shabangu will be requisitioned from Nelspruit prison to join the arrested accused on the next court date.

The case was postponed to  February 8 for formal bail application.
