It was a competitive day for Hoërskool Lydenburg’s athletes during the 70th Mediclinic Interhigh on Saturday at Lowveld High School
As tough as the competition was, the school managed to take third place

Ruben Britz was the best junior boy in the field (throws).
He managed to get 822 Absa points. Ruben took first place in the u/15 boys’ discus with a distance of 42,98 metres.
He then took fifth place in the u/15 boys’ shot-put, where he threw a distance of 12,36 metres.
Larischa Kelly is the best junior girl in hurdles. She took a gold medal in the girls’ u/14 300-metre hurdles and completed the race in a time of 48:91. She also received a gold medal in the u/14 girls’ 90-metre hurdles, and took fifth place in the u/14 girls’ 100-metre race. Blessing Hamandishe was the best junior boy in sprints. He got gold when he took first place in the u/14 boys’ 200 metres and completed the race in 24:34. Blessing also received a bronze medal when he came third in the u/14 boys’ 100 metres.
Jané Vorster got gold in the u/19 girls’ discus when she threw a distance of
28,98 metres. Her teammate, Liané Terblanche, took the silver medal, with a distance of 28,89 metres. Liané also got a gold medal in the u/19 girls’ javelin. She threw a distance of 28,15 metres.
In the u/19 girls’ shot-put, she received a silver medal when she threw a distance of 9,48 metres while Jané took first place. Her distance was 10,25 metres.
Karabo Mohlala won gold in the u/16 boys’ 200 metres, winning the race with a time of 23:25. He got a silver medal in the u/16 boys’ 110-metre hurdles and received a bronze medal in the u/16 100 metres.
Carel Goosen came first in the u/16 boys’ discus when he threw a distance of 37,50 metres.
Rickus Kitchen was awarded a gold medal when he jumped a height of
1,80 metres in the u/19 boys’ high jump. It was a competitive item for him and his team member Melusi Mokwena, the silver medallist, who jumped a height of 1,75 metres.
