Limpopo’s social development MEC handover uniforms to the needy

BURGERSFORT – About 300 pupils from schools in Tubatse received uniforms from Limpopo’s social development MEC, Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana last Thursday.

The ceremony was held at Mosebu Primary School in Mashamothane.Mokaba and her department have an annual project in which they hand over uniforms to vulnerable children. The donations also included school bags and sanitary towels.

She told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that education is one of the first priorities of the current government, so the department embarks on this venture in support of families that cannot afford to buy school uniforms.

“Kids were identified to receive these uniforms,” she added.

She urged teachers to report underage pregnant girls to her department. “We are planning to trace the fathers, especially the old ones, and report them to the police.”

A parent whose children were given school uniforms, Malebo Maroga said, “I really appreciate this. We do not have the money to buy school uniforms. My kids will from today on look beautiful when they go to school”.
