The arrests are said to be related to the murders of two government employees, including a director who was allegedly shot almost 20 times about three years ago.

“We have checked with all our units, and none of them were involved in the arrest that is referred to,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli.

He referred inquiries to national police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe who was nowhere to be found despite numerous phone calls and WhatsApp messages.

Mpumalanga government spokesperson George Mthethwa, could neither deny nor confirm the arrests.

“I shall revert back to you,” was all that Mthethwa could say following inquiries from Lowveld Media.

Details surrounding the matter remain unclear.
