FTLM declares its stance on Covid-19
The FTLM said that a rapid response team has been elected and is spearheaded by acting MM David Mashoeu.
BURGERSFORT – The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) has heeded the declaration made by President Cyril Ramaphosa on March 15 to raise awareness of the Covid-19 coronavirus and to introduce measures to mitigate the spread.
The municipality said that a rapid response team has been established under the leadership of the acting municipal manager, David Mashoeu, to come up with measures to educate the staff, customers and general public on how to conduct themselves during this critical time.
“Several measures have been put in place to reduce the risk and the spread of the virus, since FTLM is a service centre frequented by many people daily. Some measures will apply as part of the declaration made through the Disaster Management Act, 2002 Section 27(2).”
The municipality indicated that all council meetings will be cancelled. Sanitisers and respiratory masks will be made available in all the designated service centres and municipal facilities. FTLM also urged residents to avoid untidy ablution facilities at all costs, as the public might be exposed to the virus.
“Hands must be washed regularly with clean water and soap,” the statement read. FTLM said they will work closely with the Department of Health, as the chief custodian of the campaign, and other government and private sector entities, to raise awareness and spread the common message to communities.
