More than 100 suspects arrested in Limpopo for various crimes

During the operations, the SAPS seized 12 firearms, 54 live ammunition, three motor vehicles, 16 cell phones, 100 cartoons of illicit cigarettes and many more items.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo SAPS arrested a total 106 suspects in joint operations that were conducted around the province this past weekend.

The arrested suspects are aged between 23 and 65. They were arrested on various charges including attempted murder, burglary, carjacking, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, robbery, possession of drugs, possession of illicit cigarettes, possession of stolen properties, possession of dagga, driving under the influence of liquor, drinking liquor in public, gambling, and prostitution.

According to the provincial SAPS spokesman Brig Motlafelo Mojapelo the operations comprised members from various SAPS units including detectives, Crime Intelligence, Crime Prevention, K9, Tactical Response Team, Public Order Police and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).

” We focused mostly on the hot spot areas such as taxi ranks, malls, liquor outlets and tracing of wanted suspects.

“More than twenty traffic fines were also issued including one summons that was issued for failure to display license disk”

The arrested suspects are expected to soon appear before various courts in the province.
