IN PHOTOS: Uplands takes Christmas market to the streets
Boasting an impressive 82 stalls to explore, the Uplands Christmas Market was nothing short of a success.

According to organiser, Tracey Russel, “The very well received ‘street market’ set-up was made necessary by Covid-19 protocols for those belonging to the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa.

“We had to hire toilets and a generator for electricity, both of which would normally have been right there.
“Our stallholders were very understanding of the situation and the shoppers thoroughly enjoyed being able to systematically see each stall,” she said.

Several people played their part in making the day possible and Russel sent out a heartfelt thanks to all. She also mentioned that the Subaru car dealership came on board once again as a valued sponsor.

“We supported a number of charities, like CANSA, the Ukuthunga not-for-profit social enterprise story and Jason’s Project. Grade six parents also ran a food stall to raise funds for the grade seven graduation dinner and the PTA ran a gin bar.
“Any additional funds generated will go into the Uplands Festival account since we had to cancel the event this year, while expenses such as website hosting and storage are ongoing.
“We thank the Lord for the wonderful weather on Saturday. We also wish to thank those who came to support our event,” said Russel.
