Persistence and passion will get you everywhere

Raw Detergent Supplies (RDS) is a prime example of a small, one-man business that, with persistence and passion to empower others, has over a period of 20 years grown into a large supplier with a national footprint.

RDS can supply small business owners and entrepreneurs with all the material and equipment required to start their own businesses.

Gone are the days when you had to buy bulk chemical supplies if you wanted to manufacture and resell your own dishwashing liquid.

And, says Dominique Klopper, “ours compare with the best available”. The secret to RDS’ formulas and recipes is the fact that these use fewer ingredients than most commercially manufactured detergents and only the best raw materials are supplied to their customers. Add to this the convenience for customers buying in small quantities – as little as one kilogram or one liter – and you present many people with the opportunity to become independent small business owners.

RDS has truly perfected the art of the small pack process. With more than 250 raw chemical materials available and tens of various tried and perfected recipes, RDS customers can manufacture just about every possible cleaning detergent required for both domestic and industrial applications.

“We offer three different and affordable levels of training. Once completed, this will enable the entrepreneur to start generating an income from day one,” said Klopper.

Although she and her husband, Jaco, took over the business in 2018, the founders of RDS, her mother and father, are still responsible for all the training and managerial departments of the supply chain at the Gauteng warehouse.

“Mbombela offers us easier access to eSwatini, Lesotho, Mozambique and Botswana, where we have customers.”

With more branches to follow in Cape Town and Durban, RDS’ intention to serve and encourage entrepreneurship is sure to create opportunities for many.
