Rooikat offers reward for info on beer heist
Rooikat Wholesale Liquor offered a reward of R5 000 for any information that may lead to the arrest of three men following an armed robbery on Thursday afternoon.
The owner, Charl Breytenbach, said the robbery took place at 15:45 at one of the store’s storage units, not located on the property.
“Rooikat employees were at the storage unit loading beer onto the Rooikat truck, when three armed men walked in,” said Breytenbach.

“The three men beat up the truck driver and locked him and the supervisor in the toilets at the storage unit.
“The men then instructed the forklift driver to load eight pallets of Heineken quarts into their own truck and then just drove off,” he said.
“The whole robbery was very well orchestrated. They knew what they were doing.”
Breytenbach said the men were driving a white Tata truck and that the beer on the back of the truck was easily visible, as the robbers had not bothered to cover the stolen stock before driving off with it.
