Celebrating 48 years of Avroy Shlain’s success

Avroy Shlain has been providing the South African market with a range of high-quality products since 1973.

This year it is celebrating its 48th birthday, and the Independent Regional Director of Mpumalanga, Karen du Preez, celebrates along by sharing her 36-year journey in the company. The guiding principle of the brand’s founders, Avroy and Beryl Shlain, is one of positivity and empowerment; to uplift its customers with a positive self-image.

Du Preez’s vision is no different. At the age of 20, Du Preez was approached by a complete stranger, asking her if she was interested in joining the company. She took the chance and started at the bottom of the ladder as a Beauty Advisor, and worked her way up by climbing up several managerial positions to where she is today.

At first, being a Beauty Advisor was only an extra income, but later she decided to make it a full-time career. “I enjoy the freedom of working from home, especially when I started, because I had the opportunity to work my own hours and spend time with my children, who were still small when I started working full-time at Avroy Shlain,” Du Preez explained. At the young age of 25, she was already promoted to Independent Area Distributor in the Mpumalanga region.

She did a phenomenal job in the 15 years to follow – so much so that she was awarded the company’s Woman of the Year award six times in a row that is the highest accolade that you can receive in Avroy Shlain. In 2006 she harvested the fruit of her years of hard work when she was promoted to Independent Regional Director.

This is the highest position a manager can hold. In this position, she has been the top Regional Independent Director of the year six times and has around 5 500 people in Mpumalanga in her downline, from consultants to managers, working under her. She has also been the only one in the Avroy Shlain company who promoted six of her people to Independent Regional Directors within Mpumalanga and the rest of Southern Africa. “I am very satisfied in my career, because I found my purpose in life at Avroy Shlain,” she stated.

She uses her position as a Pinnacle leader to empower and uplift women in challenging economic times, by offering them an opportunity to make money, become business leaders and grow true confidence. Giving them this opportunity positively changes their lives, their families, and the communities they live in. “Other people’s achievements are mine as well!” Her 36 years of dedication to the company shines through her achievements.

She has travelled to more than 40 countries to receive awards for exceeding all expectations set by the company. Her top achievement was receiving 13 awards at one single award ceremony in Naples. Du Preez will continue to meet the needs of Avroy Shlain’s ever-growing customer base, with her network of Beauty Advisors who truly represent the tireless heartbeat and boundless passion of Avroy Shlain.

“Beauty is having a passion for life. It’s about being true to yourself and what you believe in, and using that to make a difference and realise your dreams,” she proudly states.
