Lowveld dam levels stable, says DWS
Mpumalanga water levels remain stable despite an expected decline during winter months, according to the Department of Water and Sanitation.

According to the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) Klipkopjes Dam recorded some improvement increasing from 99,2% to 99,6% and the Primkop Dam remained unchanged at 100,4%.
On the decline mode, Blyderivierpoort Dam dropped from 100,1% to 99,7%, Buffelskloof from 98,6% to 98%, Driekoppies from 100,2% to 100,1%, Longmere from 93.9% to 90,3%, Witklip from 98,3% to 98,2%, Kwena from 100% to 99,8%, Da Gama from 98,4% to 97,4%, Inyaka from 84,7% to 84,2% and Ohrigstad from 70,8% to 67,1%.

Mpumalanga’s average dam levels dropped from last week’s 84,1% to 83,6% reports the DWS. Water levels in the water management areas also continue to drop with the Olifants dropping from 77% to 76,5% and the Inkomati-Usuthu dropping from 90,4% to 90%.
The department encourages the public to use water wisely and conservatively even though the water levels look stable and the situation is much better than the same period last year.
