Children receive a special visit on Nelson Mandela Day
The orphanage homes 10 children between the ages of three and 17, two of whom have special needs.

One hand can feed another. This was the theme for Nelson Mandela International Day 2021.
On Sunday, the Pinky Phosa Solution Foundation (PPSF) put this theme into action by hosting a soup kitchen at Bettie’s Haven Children’s Home.

The foundation spent the day with the children at this local organisation in Nelsville. They enjoyed warm soup made especially for them by chef Peter Mathebula.
To make the former president’s birthday special, they sang and enjoyed some cake. The haven also received some groceries and blankets from PPSF.

Pinky Phosa, the founder of PPSF, told Lowvelder that the foundation’s responsibilities include responding to the immediate needs of the youth and community.

“As a way to live up to our obligations, we decided to spend Mandela’s birthday with the youth orphans at Bettie’s Haven.
We planned the programme in such a way that they would be able to enjoy it, too. We invited Dr Abbey Mdhluli, who is a professor, a well-trained pastor, Lwazi Khoza, and a young motivational speaker, Tshepiso Phosa. We all enjoyed our day and the kids looked so happy,” Phosa said.
