Glitz and glamour reign supreme at MWI pageant
One of the highlights on the pageantry circuit was the crowning of the national winners of Magnificent Women Icons (MWI). If everything goes according to plan, the newly crowned national winners will accompany Ronell Joubert to Mumbai for the international competition in February.
In 2019, Joubert, a local fashion designer and owner of Designer Models, was crowned the international winner of Ms MWI International Elite in Mumbai. Joubert and Veronique Kuit, the MWI International Ambassador, crowned the national winners at Alveston Manor in Middelburg on Saturday July 31.

The title of MWI Miss Teen South Africa went to Corné Dietrichsen, and Adonai Swanepoel was crowned MWI Little Miss Africa. Adonai and her parents recently moved away, but she is still part of Designer Models and coached by Joubert. Another well-known former Lydenburg resident, Noelé Nel, was crowned Ms MWI International.

Nel attended high school and primary school in Lydenburg and started modelling at the age of six. She is a qualified fashion designer and owner of Naild It and won many national and international titles, including Little Miss South Africa 1999, Little Miss International 2000, Miss Teen Globe South Africa 2003, Miss Teen World 2004 (Ecuador, South America), Top Model of South Africa, Top Female Runway Model of South Africa, Runway Model of the World (Hollywood, California) and Face of La Bella La Femme (Italy). She was among the ladies present during the crowning ceremony. Preceding the glamorous crowning, a Princess for the Day event took place at Alveston Manor earlier on Saturday afternoon.

Ten girls from various care homes in and around Middelburg were spoiled with tiaras, pink milkshakes, lunch and spa treatments. Miss MWI International Elite, Ronell Joubert, and Mr Magnificent Icon (MMI) Phenomenal Gauteng, Joshua Rushton, joined in with the organiser, Andries du Preez, Mr MMI South Africa, to host the event.
