In the world of crime – there is no holiday
The nation is tired, and the criminals are ready to exploit any sign of physical fatigue and/or a slack in your safety and security awareness. Do not present them with the opportunity.

Do whatever you can to, at the least, make it as difficult as possible for them to burglar your house or business premises or attack your person. When it comes to property, most experts advise on layering your security measures. Remember you may be on holiday, but your security never does or should. In this short article we will direct your efforts with some short and to the point suggestions.
Your house
• Don’t provide cover: Clear all bushy areas around your house and keep the view from the street also clear.
• Floodlights with motion sensors are effective in that it will frighten and stop burglars – even if only for a brief period.
• Use the best locks you can afford
• It is a no brainer, but store valuables in a safe.
• Dogs inside and outside provide one of the best warnings systems. However in our lock-up-and-go world, providing for them when you go on holiday, presents another set of challenges.
• An alarm system with or without exterior beams, can act as a early warning system. Once they are in your house, it is too late.
• Nosy neighbors may be a pain, but knowing your neighbors and trusting them to keep an eye on your house while you go on holiday, can be invaluable.
• Alert your security provider and check in with them at least once a week while you are gone.
• If you have a landline, switch off your phone ringer and the doorbell.
Water safety
• Never leave small children unattended near water, however shallow. They can drown within two minutes and in less than four of water
• All buoyancy equipment … lilos, water wings and so forth are not to be considered the ultimate protection. Children can still drift into waters where they will be in danger of drowning. No “flotation” device is 100% safe.
• Supervision … supervision and supervision!
Be aware – think and prepare for the unexpected. Don’t drink and drive!
