You can have a wail of a good time if you join this band

If you have ever wanted to learn how to play the bagpipes, the Stevenson-Hamilton Pipe Band will show you the ropes. The band is recruiting.

If you have ever heard the sound of the bagpipes and thought, “Oh wow, I love the sound, I wish I could play them,” the Stevenson-Hamilton Pipe Band might be the place to start.

Even if the next thought is that the bagpipes must be extremely hard to learn and nearly impossible to play, Dave Walters from the band said he has good news for you. “Yes, they do sound lovely, thanks for noticing.

Dave Walters.

“Yes, they are hard to learn, but fortunately, we can help you. But yes, they are impossible to play, it is just that some of us manage to ‘fake’ it for long enough for it to sound good.” This is all a joke, of course. The band is looking for new members and invite you to call them up if you are up for the challenge.

Darren MacJooste.

“Contact Pipe Major Darren MacJooste on 076 411 1421, and let’s get you on the pipes … or drums,” said Walters.

Chris Labuschagne and Andrew Dollenberg.
