Lt Col Leroy Bruwer’s murder: Trial postponed

The murder-accused Sinovuyo Salela is set to appear in the Mpumalanga High Court on June 8.

The trial for the man implicated in the 2020 murder of Lt Col Leroy Bruwer has been postponed to Wednesday June 8.

The trial against Sinovuyo Salela (30) was set to start at the Mpumalanga High Court on Monday June 6, but was postponed, according to the National Prosecuting Authority’s provincial spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa.

It was unclear why the trial was postponed by the time of posting.

Salela was charged with the murder of Bruwer, who was shot and killed on the R37 towards Mbombela in March 2020. Salela handed himself over to the police in

Tsolo in the Eastern Cape and was transported to Mbombela, where he has been held ever since.
