MEC confers mayoral chains on Sekhukhune mayors

The mayors are Julia Mathebe (Sekhukhune District Municipality), Given Moimana (Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality), David Tladi (Elias Motswaledi Local Municipality) and Minah Bahula (Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality).

SEKHUKHUNE – The MEC for cooperative governance, human settlements and traditional affairs, Basikopo Makamu, conferred the mayoral chains on Sekhukhune mayors in Jane Furse on Friday.

The mayors are Julia Mathebe (Sekhukhune District Municipality), Given Moimana (Ephraim Mogale
Local Municipality), David Tladi (Elias Motswaledi Local Municipality) and Minah Bahula (Makhuduthamaga Local
Municipality).

Makamu officially and successfully launched the intergovernmental relations (IGR) in the Sekhukhune area. This was done as a token of commitment to take services to the communities.

“The IGR structures would primarily focus on the alignment of programmes, policies and budget priorities across all sectors of government as well as promote corporative relations.
“This will give proper coordination and ensure avoidance of conflicting and parallel programmes in government,” said Makamu.

“All of these mayors were democratically elected following the November 1, 2021 local government elections, with a clear mandate and purpose to change people’s lives for the better through the delivery of sustainable
services to different communities in the municipalities they lead.”
